The 1992 edition of Le Festival International de Musique Actuelle de Victoriaville (FIMAV) not only celebrated 10 years of experimental and improvisational music, it lead also to the creation of Jean Derome et les Dangereux Zhoms. The newly minted group went on to create eclectic music, balancing imagination, humor, and performance. Their complex soundscapes mix both improvisation and highly structured compositions. The music composed is completely unclassifiable. The group has toured across Canada, and performed in international festivals across Europe, and the U.S. Performing at this year’s TD Ottawa Jazz Festival, their performance will be a guaranteed hit with audiences.
