Bio

Featuring
Neil Cowley - piano

Evan Jenkins - drums

Neil Cowley likes to joke that he’s the most listened-to pianist on the planet, thanks to his appearance on Adele’s massive hit single, “Rolling In The Deep.” A 44-year-old music veteran, Cowley was also a session pianist on the UK singer’s debut recording, just one of the many things he’s accomplished since beginning piano lessons at the age of five. After years in rock and funk bands, including Brand New Heavies and Zero 7, Cowley formed his jazz trio in 2005. The band’s debut, Displaced, won the album of the year category at the 2006 BBC Jazz Awards. With Evan Jenkins on drums and Australian bassist Rex Horan, who replaced charter member Richard Sadler in 2012, the trio released its sixth album—Spacebound Apes—in 2016. Incorporating elements of electronica and pop, the trio has drawn comparisons to other contemporary piano trios, including EST and The Bad Plus, and has been featured throughout Europe, including performances at Glastonbury and the Montreux Jazz Festival.
