Led by our Programming Manager Petr Cancura, Brooklyn-based group Down Home takes old time Mississippi blues and marinates it with New Orleans spices and a New York jazz vibe. Down Home will be in town on October 30th at the NAC.

Are you a drummer? Dave’s Drum Shop will be presenting a drumming clinic with Larnell Lewis on September 19th and ‘Drumbassadors’ on the 24th in Ottawa.
On Saturday, Sept 6th, 2014 the Jazz Festival lost one of its longest serving volunteers, Gary Clay. He was a long serving Director on the Board of Directors, he worked tirelessly designing and organizing box office control systems, and shared his vast knowledge and passionate love for jazz with everybody he knew.
Applications to perform at the 2015 TD Ottawa Winter Jazz Festival (Feb 4-6) and the 35th edition of the TD Ottawa Jazz Festival (June 19 – July 1) are now open! Dealines are October 21st 2014 for the Winter Festival and January 31st 2015 for the Summer Festival.

The TD Jazz Youth Summit is an all-star group of young up and coming musicians from across the country. This year, the 9 piece group was picked from more than 60 applicants. Directed by acclaimed trumpet player and educator Jim Lewis, they will be performing on Main Stage on June 29th at 6:30pm and on Canada Day at 2:00pm.
A young tenor saxophonist from Chile, Melissa is the first woman to win the most recent Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition’s saxophone competition—arguably the most prestigious jazz competition of them all. Melissa lives in New York, and is a familiar face at most of the city’s late night jam sessions.
