Jacob Collier - guitar/drums/bass/piano/keys

At just 22, Jacob Collier is already a two-time Grammy Award winner and electronic music pioneer. A London native, Collier first attracted attention when he was 15 for his split-screen covers of popular songs by the likes of Stevie Wonder. His videos went viral, and by 2014 Collier had come under the wing of the legendary producer Quincy Jones. All of this might’ve gone to the young man’s head, but Collier (under the surname Moriarty) already had a highly successful career as a child actor. When he was eight, he appeared in the film remake of A Christmas Carol as Tiny Tim. As an early teen, Collier also pursued a career as a classical singer, following in the musical landscape of his parents, conductor/violinist Susan Collier and violinist Derek Collier. Jacob began to put together a live program of popular music—which fuses jazz, trip-hop, Brazilian music, gospel and soul—in 2015, and appeared that year at both Ronnie Scott’s in London and the Montreux Jazz Festival. The live show incorporates multi-media audio and video looping, and utilizes a vocal harmonizer application that Collier developed in concert with engineers at MIT. As Collier summarizes: “I’ve been able to breathe some life into some pretty insane ideas.”
