“Trudel, the hottest young pianist on the Montréal jazz scene.” – The Globe and Mail
Marianne Trudel is comfortable in an impressive variety of situations whether it is composing for the Montreal Symphony, putting her own spin on world-jazz with Trifolia or improvising with Ingrid Jensen, John Hollenbeck or Tony Malaby. It is her depth of awareness of classical music structures, jazz and her command of the piano that make her such a unique artist. Marianne is bringing an exciting band to the TD Ottawa Winter Jazz Fest – a combination of a few of her projects. Joining Marianne, bassist Étienne Lafrance is a perfect companion to Marianne with classical chops and a natural ability to improvise. Great Montreal drummer Robbie Custer will help support the one and only Tony Malaby. An unmistakably original sounding tenor saxophonist from New York, Tony is one of the great saxophonists of today. This promises to be a beautiful and moving musical experience.
