Jasper Høiby - double bass
Ivo Neame - piano
Anton Eger - drums

From their inception in 2005, Phronesis—Danish bassist Jasper Høiby, British pianist Ivo Neame and Swedish drummer Anton Eger—has built a reputation as a piano trio that can challenge EST and The Bad Plus for originality. Its breakthrough came in 2010, when the trio was nominated for several awards and its third album, Alive, was chosen as album of the year by Jazzwise and MOJO magazines. The trio launched its first North American tour in 2011, and won new fans wherever it went, including a triumphant appearance at the TD Ottawa International Jazz Festival. In 2012, the trio’s third album, Walking Dark, received a five-star review in BBC Music Magazine, which called Phronesis “arguably the best disc yet from one of the best of the bunch of contemporary bands.” In 2016, the band recorded its sixth album, Parallax, at London’s Abbey Road Studios and expanded its touring, including a performance at the Danish pavilion at the Summer Olympic Games in Brazil.
