Festival Best Bet: Melissa Aldana & Crash Trio

A young tenor saxophonist from Chile, Melissa is the first woman to win the most recent Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition’s saxophone competition—arguably the most prestigious jazz competition of them all. Melissa lives in New York, and is a familiar face at most of the city’s late night jam sessions.

Photo Gallery – Day 5, Wet and Wild!

Performances on June 24 included: Daniel Lanois, Elliott BROOD, Holly Cole, Delbert and The Commotions, Hedvig Mollestad Trio, David’s Angels and Socalled. It was pouring rain in the Park, but people still showed up with a smile and great mood!

Socalled – who is he, what does he do?

The amount of virtuosity, wit, humor and musical knowledge in his music is what makes this all a blast of a show! With him tonight is an unbelievable clarinetist from New York Michael Winograd, who is one of the most respected young klezmer clarinetists out there.
