The TD Ottawa Jazz Festival learned on Friday, May 31 (three weeks before the Festival's start date) that after 12 consecutive years, we are not receiving the Celebrate Ontario grant this year.
This critical grant, offered by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport, through the Government of Ontario is designed to create programming and marketing to encourage tourism to Ontario to ultimately stimulate local economies and employment.
Based on the Festival’s impressive track record and because artists and advertising need to be booked well in advance, preparations had to proceed to meet our objectives. Understandably, this announcement is having a profoundly negative impact on our ability to move forward on a sound footing for the 39th edition of the Festival. We appreciate the outpouring of concern by so many since this situation was reported in the news!
