The TD Ottawa Jazz Festival faced a momentous challenge in 2019. Things looked dire when it was announced just three weeks before the Festival that it would not receive the critical Celebrate Ontario grant. Then, just days after the conclusion of the 2019 TD Ottawa Jazz Festival, the newly appointed Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Sport Lisa MacLeod, also the MPP for Nepean, contacted the Festival to announce a review of the program had reversed its original decision – the Festival would indeed receive $250,000 for its tourism efforts!
You made this happen with your emails, phone calls and letters of support! THANK YOU!
This funding allows the Festival to pay off its investment for 2019, that did indeed attract tens of thousands of tourists to the nation’s capital for its most successful event in years!
This happy ending is not conclusive however. Preparations are already underway for the 40th anniversary of the TD Ottawa Jazz Festival in 2020. We were extremely fortunate in 2019 but we still need your help to make 2020 fiscally viable.
