You won’t want to miss JazzWorks’ first concert of the season! Join us for an exciting evening featuring
special guest, trumpet player Derrick Gardner.

Jazz trumpeter Derrick Gardner is currently Associate Professor of Jazz Trumpet and the Director of the University of Manitoba Jazz Orchestra in Winnipeg. His work has brought him to Europe, Scandinavia, Russia, Japan, South Africa and Thailand as well as many premier venues in the United States, working with a tremendous litany of artists that includes the late Dizzy Gillespie, George Benson, Frank Foster, Joe Williams, Rufus Reid, Kenny Baron, Stefon Harris, James Moody and Clark Terry.

Derrick’s prolific career has also included leading his own sextet The Jazz Prophets, playing with The Count Basie Orchestra and Harry Connick Jr. Big Band, and receiving “Best Jazz Album of the Year” by the Independent Music Awards (for Echoes of Ethnicity). This JazzWorks Presents event will also feature Canadian jazz artists Roddy Ellias on guitar, Alec Walkington on bass, and Andre White on drums.
