Céu released her self-titled album in 2007 and was one of the few Brazilian artists to be nominated for a Grammy in the World Music category. Her first album reached number one on Billboard's "Heatseeker" and "World Music" charts, and number 57 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was the highest U.S. chart position ever achieved by a Brazilian artist since Astrud Gilberto with "Girl From Ipanema" in 1963.

With 5 albums released, Céu has been nominated eight times and has won three Latin Grammys with her albums Tropix (2017) and Apka! (2020).

Céu's music has spread around the world. She has performed in 5 continents at some of the most prestigious festivals, such as Montreal Jazz Festival (CA), North Sea Jazz (NL), Coachella (USA), Roskilde (DK), Rock in Rio (BRA), and Lollapalooza (BRA).

Having collaborated with Brazilian and international artists like Duran Duran, Herbie Hancock, Jorge Ben Jor, Gilberto Gil, Emicida, among others, Céu is one of the few Brazilian artists who have performed on BBC's Later...with Jools Holland. Her albums and shows have been regularly featured in the Best World Music lists by magazines and newspapers worldwide, such as The New York Times, Billboard, The Guardian, Mojo Magazine, Wired, Sunday Times, Les Inrockuptibles, Telerama, O Globo and Folha de S. Paulo.

APKA! (2020) reached #1 in both the US and Canadian iTunes' world music charts. It was also the most played album, in more than 200 college and community radio stations in the United States and Canada, within the Latin Music and World Music categories in 2020 (NACC charts).

Céu is considered one of the most influential Brazilian artists of her generation.

COVID Policy

The Ottawa Jazz Festival will align its Covid policy with any government safety regulations whether from civic, provincial, or federal authorities as they arise. At the moment (May 29th), there are no advisories mandating precautions for wearing masks or showing vaccination certificates for any festivals or indoor/outdoor performing arts events.

However, it is our practise to ask patrons, staff, and volunteers to wear masks while attending performances at indoor venues and wearing masks while outdoors in the Park is optional.

In addition, we will be going cashless at all our points of sale this year.

Our concern is everyone’s health and safety, naturally. Please do what’s best for you and makes you feel comfortable, except for masks indoors, you are free to do as you choose.
