Formed in 2017, Code Quartet is a powerhouse collective of four of Canada's leading jazz composers and improvisers. Based in Montreal, it includes trumpeter Lex French, alto and soprano saxophonist Christine Jensen, Adrian Vedady on bass and Jim Doxas on drums.

Jensen has racked up numerous national and international awards, including an Opus Award and two Juno awards for her albums Treelines and Habitat. Vedady and Doxas have lent their artistry to some of the world's great jazz artists, including Carla Bley, Dave Douglas, Oliver Jones and Marc Copland. French is a bright star on the Canadian jazz scene, highly in demand after relocating from New Zealand. The quartet features original compositions that draw from each member's unique background, depicting many moods and creating an organic dialogue. Their soundscape is diverse and refined, resulting in an exciting and engaging listening experience.

COVID Policy

The Ottawa Jazz Festival will align its Covid policy with any government safety regulations whether from civic, provincial, or federal authorities as they arise. At the moment (May 29th), there are no advisories mandating precautions for wearing masks or showing vaccination certificates for any festivals or indoor/outdoor performing arts events.

However, it is our practise to ask patrons, staff, and volunteers to wear masks while attending performances at indoor venues and wearing masks while outdoors in the Park is optional.

In addition, we will be going cashless at all our points of sale this year.

Our concern is everyone’s health and safety, naturally. Please do what’s best for you and makes you feel comfortable, except for masks indoors, you are free to do as you choose.
