François Bourassa has become an international example of Canada’s contemporary jazz scene. Born in Montreal, Bourassa initially started to play the piano but then put it aside for five years in favour of the guitar. In 2011, the Francois Bourassa Quartet recorded their album Idiosyncrasie, which displays new levels of mystery, whimsy, and passion. A model of both consistency and evolution, Bourassa, continues to challenge himself, his talented music partners and his ever-widening community of listeners. “I’m always open to new discoveries. It never stops.”
