The Ottawa Latin Jazz Orchestra by Miguel de Armas is another evidence of Miguel's long-term commitment to the dissemination of Latin and Afro Cuban jazz. This project was created during the pandemic, debuting online in 2021 and having 2 outstanding live performances so far, and being presented at the TD Ottawa Jazz Festival for the first time. They bring together the excitement of big band jazz, the culture of Latin music, and the virtuosity of twelve of the National Capital region's most accomplished musicians. OLJO is a tribute to the Afro Cuban and Latin jazz genres, engaging audiences from diverse cultural backgrounds and enhancing the diversity of the Ottawa music scene.
