Gary Clay In Memoriam

Gray Clay

On Saturday, Sept 6th, 2014 the Jazz Festival lost one of its longest serving volunteers. Gary Clay, a stalwart of the Festival, wore many different hats. He was a long serving Director on the Board of Directors, he worked tirelessly designing and organizing box office control systems, and shared his vast knowledge and passionate love for jazz with everybody he knew! Gary worked beside me in the Administration Trailer, 14 hours a day year after year during the Festival. He was such an inspiration to me and to all the box office team. Gary was one of the smartest people I’ve ever met and he was so generous in sharing his vast knowledge, his leadership skills, and his remarkable talents at problem solving! Gary had a wicked sense of humour and an ever evolving knowledge base about all things beer!

More than anything, Gary was devoted entirely to his family, to his beautiful wife of 55 years, Doreen, to his children Shauna-Lee, Marie, and Matt and his grandchildren who he adored and bragged about constantly! We will forever be grateful for the time he shared with us. And we will miss him every day.
